PA Video Insight: Alternative investing a credit to investors

Expensive equities, low-yielding bonds, illiquid property and nothing from cash all add up to investors looking at alternative investments but even they had a tough first half of 2016. So where next for alternatives?

A number of alternative investments had a tough start to this year well with a number of strategies struggling. This, argues Peter Vincent, head of alternatives at Franklin Templeton, is reason enough to follow a multi-strategy approach so that volatility is dampened due to its asset diversification.

He explains why long/short strategies have had it particularly tough, losing out on both sides of the trade given the sector rotation we have seen. He also explains which areas he is supportive of in the coming 12-24 months.
