Pioneer to bring 19 funds to UK

Pioneer Investments is planning to bring 19 funds to the UK market with the launch of a Luxembourg-domiciled Sicav in August, which will act as an umbrella for its proposition.

The firm said it is underlining its commitment to both institutional and wholesale clients by giving them greater access to its most competitive strategies.

Until now its main international umbrella is a Fonds Commun de Placement, which is not common in the UK and for retail investors has certain tax drawbacks which do not apply to a Sicav.

David Hanratty, head of UK & Ireland distribution, said: "We intend to build on our established UK institutional and wholesale business and to support our plans we recognise the need for a fund vehicle which suits the tax and regulatory environment in the UK.

"It is no small undertaking to launch an additional fund offering, but this is a sign of commitment to the UK market and to provide our clients there with the most appropriate structure for their needs."

Pioneer's new head of UK wholesale, Brian Clay, who was hired at the beginning of July, will look to promote the new Sicav range to UK distribution networks, multi-managers and discretionary managers.

Once the Sicav is launched it will be notified to the FSA for retail sale in the UK and Pioneer will seek reporting status from HM Revenue & Customs.

The 19 Pioneer Sicav sub-funds will be:

  • Absolute Return Bond
  • Euro Aggregate Bond
  • Global Aggregate Bond
  • Strategic Income
  • Euro High Yield
  • Global High Yield
  • Emerging Markets Bond
  • Euroland Equity
  • Top European Players
  • U.S. Fundamental Growth
  • U.S. Pioneer Fund
  • U.S. Research
  • European Research
  • Euro Bond
  • Euro Corporate Bond
  • U.S. Dollar Aggregate Bond
  • U.S. High Yield
  • Euro Strategic Bond
  • Commodity Alpha
