GAM’s Green retires from fund management

Starting 1 January 2018, Green (pictured) will transition into the new role of director of global equities strategy, which will see him advise and support the GAM equity teams. He will also continue to manage a few select mandates, the firm has said.

Green looked after both the UK Diversified and Global Diversified funds for 34 years and was frequently recognised for his strong long-term track record.

“Throughout his professional life spanning nearly 50 years in finance, Andrew has gained legendary status in the industry,” remarked GAM CEO Alexander S. Friedman.

“His investment philosophy has helped to create GAM’s conviction-led culture, forming one of the core principles on which our brand is built today.”

GAM’s Chris Morrison and Adrian Gosden, who joined from Artemis in September, will step up to co-manage the £182m GAM UK Diversified portfolio once Green steps down.

Simultaneously, Ali Miremadi will replace Green on the Global Diversified mandate. Miremadi joined GAM in 2016 from global equity firm THS Partners, which remains a long-standing sub-adviser to the GAM Star Worldwide Equity Fund.

Green reflected: “I was fortunate to join GAM when it was first founded by Gilbert de Botton in 1983, and I look back fondly on those fascinating 34 years with the company.  Gilbert’s entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach to meeting clients’ needs through active management are still at the core of GAM’s DNA.

“True to these values, Adrian, Chris and Ali are passionate about delivering meaningful returns for clients, and I wish them every success in the future. I look forward to working with GAM in my new advisory capacity.”
