Added 24th October 2016

Robin Stoakley is stepping down as head of UK intermediary after 15 years running the retail arm of Schroders.

Schroders' Stoakley steps down as UK intermediary head

He will hand the joint reins to James Rainbow, currently head of UK financial institutions and strategic accounts, and Phil Middleton, head of UK intermediary business development.

At the same time, Guy Henriques will return from Japan to become country head for the UK business, reporting to John Troiano, global head of distribution.

Henriques has been country head of Japan from 2012 to August 2016.

Joining Schroders in 2006, he was global head of official institutions in London and then in Hong Kong, where he was also responsible for Schroders’ Asia Pacific institutional business.

As well as the UK intermediary and institutional channels, Henriques will also lead the Latin America business, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.

Both Rainbow and Middleton will report to Henriques.

Stoakley will maintain a senior role within the firm overseeing the group’s relationships with global financial clients and growing its South African presence. He will report directly to Troiano.

Troiano said: ‘The changing dynamics of the UK market place and continued convergence of both the intermediary and institutional channels, specifically in the defined contribution and insurance areas, has meant that now is the right time for our business to appoint a country head for the UK that will lead and grow both channels. Guy’s experience and tenure at Schroders makes him the right person for the job.

“Robin has built and led our successful and highly-regarded UK Intermediary business for the last 15 years.  He now hands it on to James Rainbow and Philip Middleton whose tenure and experience with the firm means they are well placed to lead this business. Robin’s extensive knowledge, skills and experience within the firm, specifically in the area of managing relationships with our global financial clients, are highly valued.”
